On May 28, 2019, Dr. Jenny Hsieh will deliver her talk titled "Gene Editing, Precision Medicine, and the Ethics of Designer Babies" for the UTSA 50th Anniversary Scholars Speaker Series. This speaker series is the university’s gift to San Antonio in honor of its anniversary year.

The Adult Brain Does Grow New Neurons After All, Study Says
Jenny Hsieh, a professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio who was not involved in the new research, said the study provides a lesson for all scientists who rely on the generosity of brain donations. “If and when we go and look at something in human postmortem, we have to be very cautious about these technical issues.”

1st BHC Investigator Workshop
The 1st BHC Investigator’s Workshop is scheduled for January 8, 2019. Over 25 UTSA faculty and staff are scheduled to present their ongoing work and research focus, across Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Education, Psychology, Computer Science, and Physics. The goal of this workshop is to discover areas of synergy and form collaborative teams focusing on interdisciplinary research in brain health.
